Easy, Healthy, Yummy Snacks ?

I know I struggle finding healthy snacks after school that replace the chips and cereal I usually end up eating, so I hope this gives y’all some ideas. Also comment some of y’all’s go to snacks!!
  1. APPLES/BANANAS/CELERY AND PEANUT BUTTER- easy and yummy, plus peanut butter is a good source of protein. The RX or justin’s peanut butter packets are delicious and make this snack really easy to bring to school or work. Tip: try putting some lemon juice in the ziplock bag with your apples to keep them from browning throughout the day.
  2. OVEN ROASTED TURKEY AND GUACAMOLE- this is one of my favorite snacks for when I’m on the hungrier side because it fills you up. I just roll turkey breast that I would use for sandwiches and dip it into guac and it is delicious.
  3. AVOCADO TOAST WITH AN EGG ON TOP- basic, but delicious. Easy to make, good source of protein and unsaturated fat.
  4. SMOOTHIE- I have a nutribullet, which makes smoothie making so so easy. I just put in either frozen fruit or normal fruit and ice, almond milk, protein powder, and then honey and it makes the most delicious and easy smoothies. These are perfect post workout or with breakfast.
  5. NUTELLA BANANA TOAST- this is not exactly healthy… but you need to treat yourself every once in a while.
  6. CARROTS AND HUMMUS
  7. HONEY DEW WITH LIME AND SALT- one of my best friend’s mom makes this and it is DELICIOUS. You just cut up some honey dew, squeeze lime juice on top and sprinkle some salt and you’re good to go.
  8. NUTS
  9. PROTEIN BARS- my favorite are the vanilla blueberry kind bars (shout out to syd for showing me these)
  10. SEAWEED SNACKS
  11. POPCORN- I LOVE popcorn, and if you get organic natural popcorn without all the butter, oil, and salt it is actually not bad for you.
  12. PALEO COOKIE DOUGH– Okay, I know this sounds nasty, but before you click out I have a trusty source that swears by this recipe.

Disclaimer: I try to eat healthy because it makes me feel better and because I am playing a sport. It makes me less tired and does not make me feel like I am going to throw up when I work out or go to sports practice. Yes, diet impacts your appearance and lifestyle; however, it is so so important to have a healthy relationship with food. You never want to lose control and let food dictate your life. My philosophy is that it is perfectly okay to eat a piece of cake or your favorite dessert in moderation. Eat what makes you happy. I think problems arise with restriction. When you completely deprive yourself of foods, it creates a negative connotation and an unhealthy relationship with those foods. This is just my opinion, and there are so many people out there who probably disagree with me. It just hurts my heart thinking about the number of people who look at themselves in the mirror and only see the things they wish they could change about themselves instead of all the things that make them beautiful. By no means am I perfect, I know I need to practice what I preach, but this is something I am really trying to be better about.

“You are imperfect, permanently and inevitably flawed. And you are beautiful.”

-Amy Bloom

Sorry for the long rant 🙂 Just spread the love and body positivity.
